Grief and Grieving Support

The human body has an amazing range of emotion, but none is more profound than grief

Grief is a powerful and life changing experience that is only brought on by the most drastic and dramatic of situations. It can leave a person drained of all other emotions and draw them into themselves. The intensity of grief is comparable to that of love because it is brought on by the loss of something dear to oneself. You may feel sad or upset by losing a normal object or person in your life, but grief is reserved for the things and people that we hold dearest and closest. It is an emotion that is celebrated with the heart wrenching sobs of widows and the pounding of your heart to try and dull the pain it feels within your chest. Above all other emotions grief should be treated with respect and tolerance.

Grieving a loved one must happen at its own pace

You should not rush them through their experience. A certain amount of "respectance" must be given to the situation. Respectance is a mixture of acceptance and respect for the situation. It is a word unique to grieving. The act of grieving is an art form; one that is revered in some countries. An individual needs to accept their grief and work through it at their own pace. Never rush grief, it will only cause the emotion to harden and turn into anger and despair. Treat grief and the grieving with a tender hand, and always allow time to do its work.

Sharing memories can make the difference

Sharing memories about the person we’ve lost can make all the difference. Expressing thoughts and feelings can not only reduce our own grief but can also help others cope with their grief. When a person realizes that he or she is not alone in their grief, their perspective changes. Though grief and grieving is an essential part of life, it is one that ultimately helps us grow as individuals.
