Aubrey Oswald Thomas was during. WW2, the mid upper gunner in my fathers Lancaster bomber. During their 30 ops over occupied Europe, Aubrey shot down a JU88 night fighter which was attacking their aircraft, saving the crew and most likely other aircraft in the attacking raid.
