In all fairness, I never met Denise in person or ever, save, her accentuated talent of character development as a writer on "Prisoner" as a mere viewer since age 11 in 1979. I wish that I had known her as well as many of you enjoyed the blessing of knowing such a soul. As a viewer, I KNEW when she wrote a particular episode (as writers appreciate signature talent). I never wish to plagiarize the experience of knowing her as many of you sincerely knew her. However, the beauty of the aspect of humanity is that we are free to love and admire from afar and that your dear friend Denise Morgan was blessed to have even reached a young unknown from over a great body of water. It reveals how blessed and fortunate each of you loved and appreciated her. Thank you and in all humility, I am honored to even exchange these very words to Denise and with each of you. From one ignited and passionate writer to special and successful one. Your star has touched mine. Your writing lives in spirit and remains alive! Anita J. Stielow

I was eleven when I met your words. And as so few talents stars as you; you've sent inspiration from America afar , though you I hardly knew. Thank you for a most awesome world of words, May Our Lord and Father Bless You. Thank you again for a wonderful introduction to writing in 1979 I hope to carry the torch and write fellow words of sweet wine. Anita from America ;-)

Yes you were a brilliant writer Yes you were a an amazing script editor and teacher. Yes you really did have a wonderful career. But you were also the best Aunt and best friend anyone could have! You were my Sydney mum and were always there when I was settling in. You taught me so much, but most of all the importance of being myself. I love you so much and miss you everyday. Because of Denise Morgan's great success in her chosen career, the sensitivity, humor, and insights of a most remarkable woman were able to reach millions across the globe, including here in America, where her reputation as a writer's writer is matched only by her inspiring life as a loving and dedicated spouse. For me, knowing Denise was a joy. Even from half way around the world, she was always there to offer words of encouragement and support. I only knew Denise for a relatively short time, but have to say I treasure happy memories and am privileged to have been classed as a friend. Thoughts with Fiona and all Denise's family. Love from Hazel xx

Denise was, without a doubt, the most wonderful woman I have ever met. Talented and generous... funny as hell, and an extraordinary balance of golden heart and spine of steel. During our many years together on All Saints, I was in constant awe of her energy and dedication to her craft, the people around her, and the industry in general. We have lost one of our shining lights and the world seems just a little darker this week. Rest well, Denise. I will miss you. Louise Crane-Bowes

I first met Denise 40 years ago when I answered a Crawfords ad for writers and applied to Script Dept (DM). Only later did I realise the wry significance of DM! As we variously crossed paths over later years, and Denise's career continued to blossom, she remained full of fun and generosity, A true professional, known for her unyielding regard for writing and writers. A memory that will endure. Michael Harvey.

I cannot remember the first time I met Denise or worked with her - there have been so many times over the years - our paths continually crossed as writers, at plot meetings, script meetings, directors meetings - the list goes on. I find it impossible to believe that I will not see her again, that she won't be at another plot table with her lively, generous and supportive spirit - and the infectious laugh that went with it. And for sharing her office at McLeods with my then newborn daughter in her portacot! So many memories. Please know we are all thinking of you Fiona. love Alexa

I remember: A warm smile, always positive, exceptional talent, generosity of spirit and integrity. The only writer whith whom I ever worked, to ring and thank actors for taking her script to another level. Denise sparkled. She will be sorely missed. My sincere condolence to all who loved her,

I am privileged to have known Denise for just a few short years, in which time I enjoyed her warmth, humour and friendship. Not only was she an exceptionally talented lady, Denise saw the best in people which included me when I was going through personally difficult times. My love and thoughts are with you Fiona at this exceptionally sad time. Hazel xx

Denise plotted my first Blue Heelers, which from memory fell about halfway through series one. There were only the two of us in the story meeting, script producer and writer. I'd arrived with two possible stories and she cleverly combined them into one much more interesting story. Lunchtime came and I suggested we stop for a break. She said that if we worked through I could catch an early flight home. My tummy rumbled. She produced smoked salmon, cottage cheese and caper sandwiches she'd made herself, gave me half, we worked on for an hour and the job was done. That episode remains my favourite. Denise was definitely one of the good guys. Peter Gawler

Denise had an incredible zest for life, a huge smile and a big hug would make my day. Whenever I doubted anything I tried to achieve she would push me up the hill and always make me feel like I would win. Denise was a longstanding friend to my family and we will miss her very much. What a wonderful woman I have enjoyed in my life

I am, like everyone, shocked to hear this news. And saddened. Denise helped with a project I was working on, she gave her time generously and I will remember the short, but happy days we spent trying to work through too many words. Thank you Denise, many will miss your energy and certainly the film biz has lost someone talented and good hearted. Pattie Wright

I first met Denise, only a few short years ago, but in that time I quickly grew to love and respect her, as a friend. She welcomed me in her home and I have many fond memories of time spent in great company. She was a talented writer and touched many with the beauty of her words. A passionate, generous person with a great sense of humour also. Stay special, Denise. Love, Brian.

Taken aback, I suppose, is what I feel to learn about Denise's passing -- because that is what it most certainly is -- a passing on to another sphere, not to be sad over, though I know that those who loved her and shared her life could only be sad for the painful gap her absence will make in their own lives. I have not seen or heard from Denise for many years. Since 'A Country Practice' years. But she is still strong in my memory as a warm and lovely woman it was always good to be with. She is not gone. The last time I spoke to Denise, I promised her the perfect pina colada when she came to visit us in the south pacific. I'm saddened that I will not get to make it for her. The thought of her enjoying it at the bar one thing that's kept me going through a long hard build, as her wonderful emails of encouragement kept me going through many a long, hard drafting process. My condolences to all who were close to Denise. Sally Webb

Much like Graeme, Denise was my very first script editor in the "Matlock Police" corner at Crawfords in Abbotsford. Denise was elegant, fun, endlessly supportive, caring, passionate and a friend to writers everywhere. I'm forever grateful that it was Denise who walked me through my first few scripts. So sadly missed. Keith Thompson

I was a writer for theatre when I saw Denise's first script for Prisoner an d said "I want to do THAT." Without her I would never have gone into television and though I only met her once I was struck by her generosity of spirit. She was a fine writer with strong maternal interests towards her characters. She wrote with great integrity and we are all a little poorer for her passing

I worked with Denise a couple of times and just loved her. She was very good to me, as a youngster, and she put up with some particular madness from me during Medivac. I owe her for that. Goddamn what a great person. x

I worked with Denise on many occasions over fifteen years and feel shocked and saddened by her death. She had a way of making everybody around her smile. The loss of such a positive soul cuts deep. She was at once funny, gentle and strong. Her enjoyment of life was infectious. My sympathies to her partner and family. Peter Neale

Denise was my second ever script editor when I started writing for television. A warm, caring, generous and supportive professional; a warm, caring, generous and supportive human being. And she never changed over more than 30 years. Better still, she hated a drink and a smoke and a laugh in equal measure so a good time was unavoidable in her company. Tanti abbracci e a dopo, D.
