My memories of Di go back over 30 years when we were both nursing in Sydney. Our daughter, Karen was born about 6 weeks after Samantha and I was a nervous first-time Mum with no relatives in Australia. Di was so calm and knowledgeable and usually answered my calls for help with, “Come over, darling, and we’ll have some lunch.”!! I have never forgotten her kindness.
We were near neighbours in Vaucluse and the children went to Vaucluse Primary School and many a good time was had at each others houses while the children played after school.
We have kept in touch over the years even though our move to Brisbane meant that our get-togethers were a little more infrequent. I shall miss her humour, her good sense, her kindness and generosity – Vale, my good friend.
