Geoffrey will be missed by colleagues of the Foreign Correspondents Association of Australia and New Zealand (FCA) which he helped to establish more than 25 years ago. Geoffrey was an author, Antarctic adventurer and an outstanding correspondent for the New Zealand Herald and the London Daily Telegraph. He was also a great raconteur and a pleasure to be with particularly over a long FCA lunch. As a proud New Zealander, Geoffrey was a loyal supporter of the All Blacks and I understand that he passed away shortly after their Sunday night victory over the Wallabies! In the words of FCA member, Graham Davis, Geoffrey was “a true gentleman of the old school and proof conclusive that Kiwis are some of the nicest people in the world. The All Blacks deserve to win next weekend just for Geoffrey”. He was a good person who enjoyed a good and full life.
