In 1996, I received a phone call at Kitty O'Shea's Hotel Paddington (where I was working as a cellarman). The voice on the end oh the phone said: ''Hey bear, how the fu8k are ya? It's Gordy!! Gordon King your Agronomy lecturer!... at the uni!! we have a double lecture this afternoon and you need to be there..OK'' I was often absent from critical lectures... Gordon made sure I at his lectures... A good bloke who loved life, he was good to me and I won't forget. RIP Gordy Bear
Gordon dressed in lycra, having a wonderful time......that's my memory..a man who will be missed enormously. Gordon would have been so proud today to see and hear his family delivering their stories and memories, and so happy to see how much love surrounded Yvonne and his children.
Gordon was one of the smartest persons I have ever met, yet he never made you feel he was smarter than you. Gordon was able to generate fun, no matter what the situation, he had a great skill to bring you into the fun. Gordon was able to listen to discussions on any topic, then provide a thought out perspective without making you feel he knew it all. The world can't afford to lose people like Gordon King, but I am so glad that I had the chance to spend some time with him!
Gordon was a man of immense intelligence, that was clear. Although he was also a man who could generate incredible fun with people, no matter who they were. His ability to listen to others and give guidance was exceptional. He was also capable of providing his own views without sounding as though he knew it all - even though he probably did!!!! Our world can't afford to lose people like Gordon King, he is an immense loss to us all!!
