I met Jhoti in the 70s and enjoyed her inspired yoga evenings followed by her home made supper. When I saw her name with a Concert tribute listed in the Manly Arts Festival it was with great regret that I realized that she was no longer `blessing this earth with her gentle wise spirit. It was such a joy to hear the beautiful music and words at the Manly Art Gallery today and to remember and celebrate a very special person in my life.

Jyoti taught me yoga in the late seventies, and became a very special friend to me and many others. One of my strongest and most treasured memories is of the time we spent camping in the Blue Mountains together. I shall always remember her for her positive, supportive and encouraging nature, and for the happiness she taught me to embrace.

I sat in on many of the lessons that Jyoti gave my daughter, Lydia. As she introduced her to the flute I witnessed her lovely softly-spoken manner underscored by true teaching skill and, more importantly, her gift of being able to get a child to simply love music. Her little music room, her interesting art and artifacts the wonderful books in her library were like an oasis, an extension of her. Lydia and I will remember her with affection.

Jyoti taught me to play the flute in the early 90's. Her talent, grace and patience were extraordinary. After years of overbearing and dominating singing teachers, Jyoti was a joy to visit each week. She saw me through several flute gradings. While I didn't strictly keep up with flute, only playing for personal pleasure on occasion, I never forgot the beautiful person who gave me that gift and taught me much more about the value of kindness and patience.

Jyoti was Laura's flute teacher of 2.5 years, she was the most wonderful flute teacher and friend to her students. She will be missed.
