My visit to Nan's and Pop's at Punchbowl were some of the greatest time off my life as it was always full of adventures with Albert and Kerry not far away. Nan would always be cooking scones with jam and we had the run of the house and yard. My Nan was the most beautiful and kindest person I have ever meet

How do we begin to write words about the most remarkable women I have ever known, or limit this to a couple of special memories. My oldest and fondest memory is from there house at Erskinville where she would let me slide down the rail and pop would get cranky, but she would sneak me on the rail :-) or the time she had pop help him with concreting the frony yard which he was not that happy about but she stood there whilst pop took the time to entertain me, I cant remember how old I was but that memory of them together will live in my heart forever.

I met Lucy when moved in with Del at Lugarno. Whenever I visited we always had a lovely chat about her family and also her early life in Armidale where my Dad was born. She was loved and cared for devtotedly by Del and "the boys" and it was a hard decision for Del to finally hand her care over to the nursing home. Lucy was always quietly spoken but always had something interesting to say. She was a true gentlewoman.

My Nana Hayes was a remarkable woman with a remarkable story to tell. I remember as kids my brothers Sean, Phillip and I used to visit with her and pop in punchbowl where she used to make us brevilles, making sure we pulled them apart to cool down before eating and had the biggest mull bury tree. But best of all I remember the love and the patience she showed us all the way through life. She'll be sadly missed by her great grandchildren, our children, her great great children and their children, her great great great grandchildren. May she rest in peace. xxxxx

After she lost her sight and wasn’t able to live safely alone any longer she reluctantly agreed to give up her home and came to Lugarno to live with us. We didn’t find it such a huge change as she was already part of our daily lives anyway. Remarkably she managed to get around the house and backyard in spite of her lack of vision and continued with the wiping up of dishes right up to her last weeks at home. Her last months were spent at ShangriLa Nursing Home – I know that she received a lot of care and love from the staff there and even though she missed the life at home with us she still kept in contact with family and treasured that time.
