Noela and I were born next door to each other on Huntley's Point, Sydney. Her sister, Patricia, and I were about a year older than Noela, so we all grew up together, sharing many escapades. I think Noela's "first best friend" was the baker or perhaps I should say the baker's horse for her passion for horses manifested itself at a very early age. Our bread (unwrapped) was delivered daily by the baker on a horse and cart and Noela driving the horse and cart around Huntlely's Point in the school holidays was a familiar sight. Noela placed great value on her friendships and ours has been a life-long one, I shall certainly miss the entertaining 'phone conversations and Christmas letters, always cheerful, for her sense of humour never deserted her, even when enduring such physical disability. My deepest sympathy goes to William and his family. He was the greatest delight of her life and his children brought much joy and pride to her in her later years. I am so sorry I shall not be able to attend her Service and send my warmest thoughts to all family and friends. From Frances Lawson
