When my sister Leah and I drove down to Sussex Inlet to see Pop a few weeks before he passed, the three of us and Grandma all sat at the table to have some lunch and Pop asked me about my boyfriend, Kurt. He then started talking about how him and Grandma had been married for 51 years and every single night of their marriage they would say 'I love you' before going to sleep. He told me how important it was to him that even if Grandma and him were having an argument, they would put the fight to rest for the evening and tell each other they loved one another before they went to sleep, and the fight could continue the next day if it had to. It is the most romantic thing i have ever heard. I am so proud to say that 51 years into their marriage my grandparents were still so in love.

The week before dad died we were having lunch and I brought up how I remembered the only time I'd been in a car doing 100 miles per hour. Dad remembered it too. Terry, dad and I were on our way back from Tamworth after doing some school holiday work with dad's company. We were on a deserted country road, long and straight. Terry asked "How fast do you think this thing will go,dad?" He gave us some stern words about the dangers of speeding and then put his foot down. The technology back then wasn't what it is today so the speedo needle just managed to touch the 100 mark. It wavered there for about five seconds before dad took his foot off and we slowed down to the speed limit. I'll never forget those five seconds though. The three of us grinning like idiots, sharing something that you'll all carry with you for ever.

Tom was a great husband, father, grandfather, son, brother. He was a man of few words and like to make people think he was grumpy but Tom had a great sense of humour and a wonderful smile which showed when you least expected it. All the Edwards boys are now back together. God help their neighbourhood.
